draft 0091 – stop walking and use your phone.
So, yesterday I went out to the city centre and I was just driving around the shopping centre. And somebody was just walking and looking directly into their phone the whole time. The person walked almost into me I’m literally talking a couple of steps away from me and you know because I use a wheelchair, how am I supposed to get out of the way? It really annoyed me (just watch where you’re going, it’s not hard).
Guess what happened after that? Another person did the exact same thing to me. I’m like really, is this a joke now? People are just obsessed with their phones, I’m sorry it’s true and if you don’t like it then you don’t understand how bad it is.
I have come to the conclusion that if you are going out or doing something that you need to do, then go do that thing. You don’t need to be walking around looking at your phone, you should enjoy what you are doing and be present with the people around you. You don’t have to engage with people, just be in the now.
Like, obviously if you really need to use your phone, then stop walking or sit down and use your phone. Then, when you are finished with your phone, put it away and carry on. You should really use your phone when you don’t have anything to do or you are at home. Not walking around and using your phone, that you can’t even see where you are going.
I’m sorry but this really pushes my buttons, I can deal with the rest of it. People have no common courtesy anymore and nobody cares about anyone else. Just them and the people in their own life. That is just selfish to me and that is why society is going downhill.
I’m not saying everybody is like this, but I’m saying just don’t walk around looking at your phone. It’s dangerous for the person using the phone and the people around them. We need to start appreciating what we are actually doing, whether it is going out or doing something else.
We need absorb what is going on around us. Like the sounds of busy traffic or the chatter of people just talking amongst themselves. Maybe a busker playing a guitar or somebody preaching. That is why I don’t like noise cancelling headphones, they are trying for us to not be aware of what we are doing anymore.
I know many of you are saying I don’t want to hear the outside sounds, but I’m sorry you have to. I’m sorry but why are you outside then, if you don’t want to hear the outside sounds? It’s flawed logic, I’m sorry. Ok, how many times have I just said I’m sorry? Way too much, obviously (um, writer it is precisely 6 times, really reader you have been counting the whole time). Even the one where I am asking the question of how many times, obviously writer.
Anyway, I think I have said a lot already. So, I am going to let you rest and myself.
So, I’ll be back on Friday evening at 10pm.
See you then, drafters.
