draft 0062 – dealing with uncertainties

You know dealing with uncertainties, is one of the worst things imaginable. I know many of you are just thinking, that is just life. Yeah, I get that too, but nobody wants to deal with uncertainties, am I right?

Like we as humans, we always prefer certainty over uncertainty, so when uncertainty strike, we panic. Now, I know this sounds a bit obvious, but we only think about it when it happens to us.

Which, I think makes it worse because if we try and think about it, we can try to account for it. For example, to deal with upcoming uncertainties like financial situations, we could set aside some money for those situations.

I guess what I am trying to say, is that facing uncertainties can actually be a good thing in a way, as it can helps us to be more prepared and certain about future events that can come up.

Anyway, the point is that although we prefer certainty over uncertainty, we could learn to deal with uncertainties by embracing them. For example, as I am a Muslim, we believe in the divine decree (Qadar) of god (Allah),that will everything happens for a reason. That predestination is whatever Allah has written for us will happen and free will is whatever we choose to do with our lives.

I was reading a book the other day called Being Muslim: A Practical Guide by Asad Tarsin and he was talking about a scholar, who would describe this as the game of chess. So, predestination would be like the rules of the game and the free will would be what the chess pieces are allowed to do within the predestination. basically, we humans have the free will to do whatever we want, in the parameters of the predestination that god has given us.

So, I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon at 1pm.

See you then, drafters.
